Our Story
DaySpring Villa was started in 1980 as The Baptist Women’s Shelter in downtown Tulsa. Over time, the need to help women suffering from domestic abuse became so great that in 1995, DaySpring Villa moved to a new, larger location near downtown Tulsa.
In 1995, DaySpring Villa received certification as a domestic violence shelter from the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and, since that time, DaySpring Villa has provided sanctuary and services to more than 7,000 domestic violence survivors in the Tulsa metro area.
In 2012, DaySpring Villa became the first shelter in Oklahoma to be certified by the State Attorney General’s office to offer housing and restoration services for victims of human sex trafficking. That same year, DaySpring Villa launched a capital campaign to renovate unused space to be converted into guest rooms for human sex trafficking victims as well as add additional new space to our facility.
In July 2015, the new construction was completed. In May 2016, we celebrated the completion of the capital campaign.
